Straight answers about learning to dive in Florida

Written by an instructor who has certified around 200 divers from age 10 to 80 — not by a marketing department. If your question is about certifications, refreshers, first dives or Florida conditions, it is answered here.

Dive guide questions

Do I need to read all of this before booking?

No. Ask Kaitlyn your actual question through the contact form and she will answer it directly — these guides exist so you know what you are getting into, not to make you study.

Can Kaitlyn teach outside Venice, Florida?

Yes. She is based in Venice and travels for instruction across the state, from Tampa Bay south and Jacksonville south. See the service areas for the coast nearest you.

When should I start planning a certification course?

The e-learning portion can start immediately and takes 12–15 hours. In-water training then needs two to four days. Give as much lead time as you can, especially for a private course built around your dates.

Which guide should a complete beginner start with?

Start with what a first scuba dive is actually like, then how certification works. If you are certified but rusty, skip to the refresher guide.
